How to Grow Your Organic Following on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a powerful tool to increase online presence, but in order to truly amplify your brand, you need followers. How can you get more followers on your LinkedIn page? Below you will find some suggestions to boost your LinkedIn presence without spending money on ads.

First make sure your LinkedIn page is complete and distinguishable with at least these 3 things:

  1. Logo

  2. Overview: with your mission and purpose

  3. Organization information: website

After you have established your LinkedIn identity, here are some useful tips.

Tip #1: Let them find you

Add the LinkedIn “Follow” button to your company’s website, ideally in the site-wide header or footer. Also consider adding a link in your organization's document templates (slide decks, letterhead, etc.) and email signature to make it easy for others to identify you and follow you.

Tip #2: Show your identity

Be sure to establish consistent, branded content including colors, tone of voice, and logo, to be noticed easily and become unique among the rest of the community.

Tip #3: Be consistent

Post content regularly to establish your voice within your community. Engagement is doubled when pages post daily. Posting regularly gives more visibility which helps lift engagement.

Tip #4: Engage your audience

Post compelling updates using video and visual content. Unique imagery and content will help keep your audience interested in your page and posts. Also, make sure to respond to comments on your posts to actively engage with your community.

  • When an audience member comments “Thank you for sharing!”,  you might respond “You are welcome, keep checking for more to come!”

Tip #5: Promote your page

There are a number of ways to promote your page:

  • If another page @mentions you, be sure to re-share those @mentions to further highlight your brand.

  • You may also think of other pages you might be related with and ask them to @mention your page, when appropriate (for instance if you are co-hosting an event).

  • You can use  the “Invite to Follow” feature to send direct follow requests to your individual connections.

  • Also, to reach different audiences, you can cross promote your page on other social media platforms you may use.

Tip #6: Adapt and Adjust

Review your page analytics to understand what is resonating more with your audience and what is not. Then, align your content according to what the audience is engaging with the most.

  • If you notice a specific type of post that has many more views and/or reposts, try posting similar content to see if it resonates with your audience.

These are just a few ways to increase your LinkedIn presence by growing your followers organically. Overall there are 3 key things to keep in mind:

  1. Establish your identity: What is your visual style and voice? What type of content do you post? How can people find you?

  2. Be consistent with it: Post regularly.

  3. Adapt and adjust in response to your audience: Review what’s resonating and what is not, and adjust course as necessary.

Following these suggestions will help grow your followers, which in turn will help to keep expanding your audience and overall presence.
